Pjusk — Sakne verda

1 min read

Pjusk is a duo of Rune Sagevik and Jostein Dahl Gjelsvik, based on the west coast of Norway. According to their bandcamp info: «The sound of Pjusk is inspired by the harsh Norwegian weather and wild landscape. At the center point of the collaboration between the two is an old cabin high up in the mountains. This is where most of the music of Pjusk is made – framed by snowy peaks and the sound of cold streams»

At the same time, music of Pjusk’ new album is beautiful and comfortable for listening, carefully crafted and produced. It looks like that the technical and living conditions of the guys’ working space are not so hard as it could be assumed somewhere in a sparsely populated territory of harsh weather and wild landscapes.

Sakne verda (to miss the world – taking a short nap) is a collaborative work. Derek Bishop of Tortusa and Stefan Olsen played string instruments on the first track AttendeKviska is a joint work with Porya Hatami and Anne Garner (vocal) plus Stefan Olsen with bowed dulcimer. The third track Bontelabo is a collaboration with Yui Onodera.

Stylistically the new album of Pjusk is a high quality ambient music supplied by some rhythmical elements and flavored with melancholic and a little bit dark melodies and atmospheres. Cool staff in general, very associative, especially if you ever been to Norway or somewhere else in Scandinavia.
